My vision of seeing Jesus

Jessica’s testimony.

Tēnā koutou katoa mā te Atua koutou e manaakitia.

Hi everyone! I live in this beautiful country New Zealand, and I would like to share with you what God showed me on Easter Sunday, 12 April 2020. That was the day I saw Jesus. It was the best sight I have ever seen!

I had turned on the television, and the movie ‘The Passion of the Christ’ was playing. Jesus was being brutally treated, as He was going to the cross. I began to think about what He had done for me and thank Him. Jesus deserves the highest honour and respect; seeing Him being treated so awfully brought me to tears.

I blinked, and suddenly, I saw a vision of the radiant face of Jesus in full colour, looking at me. I only saw half His face, because the other half was covered by His glory — a soft, beautiful light of the utmost purity.

If I could only say one thing about Jesus, it would be: HE IS BEAUTIFUL. Beyond words. It is a type of beauty you cannot describe with words, because there are none to use. Many people try to draw pictures of Jesus to show His beauty, love and glory, but His qualities cannot be captured on canvas or paper. None of the pictures of Jesus floating around on the internet come even slightly close to capturing the love, peace and life that is in His eyes. It is beyond words. Beyond paint.

When I saw Jesus’ face, I didn’t just see His appearance — I saw so much of His character! He is the best! It was as though we had known each other forever. We had the deepest, most genuine connection and friendship possible.

You can see in Jesus’ eyes that He loves having a friendship with us, because we are His creation and children. When you see Him, you will feel like you are finally home. Have you ever looked at someone and thought, ‘they would be really cool to hang out with’? That’s Jesus! He looks like the coolest, most personable, genuine person you will ever meet. He is fun and wants us to invite Him into our daily life and be in relationship together. His face was extremely gentle and shone with the most genuine kindness.

In the vision, the thing that stood out to me the most was Jesus’ eye. It held me in awe. It said one thing louder than anything else: I love you. It’s the most genuine, powerful, and passionate love I have ever seen. It’s not fake or sentimental, it’s powerful, strong, authoritative and deep.

When I saw Jesus, I realised that He passionately loves every one of us! He wants us to live a fun, free life. A life full of colour and adventure, and a life spent in fellowship with people and with Him. Many people don’t know they are loved, and don’t have family or friends who show them love. I have to say from many experiences, including this one, that Jesus is real and that it is true that He loves you. You may not believe it, but Jesus came to earth to die a death that was so awful, we cannot grasp the pain He went through. He did this to take our sin upon Himself, so that we could be made free and right with God. He died to forgive us!

When I saw Jesus, I didn’t feel fear or the need to try to be perfect. I only felt complete acceptance and a huge sense of belonging. He wants you to understand that He is a friend, not a religious figure. He desperately wants you to know Him. We overcomplicate Christianity sometimes. Jesus wants us to: keep loving others and God; shining His light; living a righteous life; encouraging people; having good fun; telling people the good news of Jesus; and pursuing Him.

Everyone is going to meet Jesus face to face one day; in all His glory and majesty; and I have to say to you that He is real! Jesus is Lord.

And when you see Him, you will want to stay with Him forever.

If you’re not a Christian today…

Know that God loves you and created you to know Him!

However, our sinfulness stops this from happening and separates you from God. The good news is that Jesus died to pay the price for the wrong things that we have done. All our sins were nailed to the cross with Him as He died. He came to life three days later, defeating sin and death!

Each person has to decide for themselves how to respond to this – whether they want to know God through trusting in Jesus as their Saviour and Lord, or not.

What will your response be?

If you do want to begin a relationship with God, you can talk to him by praying a simple prayer:  ‘Jesus, I want to know you.
I’m sorry for going my own way. Please forgive me for the way I’ve sinned against you. Thank you for dying so that my sins could be forgiven. I turn from my old sinful ways, and decide to follow you as my Saviour and Lord.
Amen.’

If you pray this with a genuine heart, Jesus will come into your life as He promised! Read the Bible today, starting with the gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Talk to a Christian friend and visit a local church. If you are a university student, check out Christian groups like Student Life or TSCF!
